Garden Club Offers Scholarships

Pat Raub, the president of the Foliage Garden Club of Apopka announced today that the Club is now accepting scholarship applications from students entering grades 10-12 to attend the Save the Earth’s Environment through Knowledge (SEEK), Conference to be held June 12-15 at Silver Springs State Park in Silver Springs, FL.

“SEEK focuses on today’s critical environmental issues which include climate change, energy conservation, water quality, and preservation. Field trips, hands-on workshops and information on careers in environmental science and conservation will be offered as well as opportunities for swimming, hiking and canoeing.” Ms. Raub continued.

Application forms for students can be obtained online . The deadline for completed applications is April 15, 2016. Submit applications to Ms. Julye Phillips, 1607 Oak St., Kissimmee, FL 34741.

The finalists may be asked to submit a one page description of how they would benefit by attending this seminar.

The Foliage Garden Club will provide the $225 fee for the student which includes lodging and meals. Transportation to and from the conference to be provided by the family.” Ms. Raub concluded.

The Foliage Garden Club’s major fund raising activity is thier 30th Anniversary Fashion Show and Luncheon being held Saturday, February 27, 11 am at the First United Methodist Church, Park Avenue in Apopka. Tickets are $20. Deadline for ticket purchase is February 22nd . Tickets can be obtained from any club member or by calling Kay Huth at 407-889-2872.
