The Florida Department of Health in Orange County will offer free or low-cost breast cancer screenings during a mobile mammography event in Winter Garden.

The 3D Mobile Mammography bus will be available Wednesday, September 30, from 8 am to 4 pm at Community Health Centers, 13275 W. Colonial Drive.

Women interested in receiving a free mammogram must meet all four of the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be between ages 40 and 64.
  • Have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
  • Have no health insurance covering a clinical breast examination, mammogram or Pap smear.
  • Maintain a primary residence in Florida.

Women can call 407-858-1421 to determine whether they qualify for a free screening.

The Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program offers screenings to eligible women statewide at no cost or at low cost.

The program serves women who are uninsured or underinsured, meet income guidelines and satisfy other eligibility requirements. It also provides information about breast cancer symptoms and the benefits of detecting the disease early.

According to health officials, regular screening can help identify breast cancer before symptoms appear, when treatment may be more effective.
