The Thomas campaign announced the endorsement in a statement. Becker described Thomas, a former colleague at the Orange County Clerk of Courts, as a candidate with an “energetic, forward-looking vision” for the office.
“At a time when citizens expect government services to be accessible and transparent, Terrell understands that technology and strong leadership can make the court system work better for everyone,” Becker said.
Becker said Thomas would prioritize expanding online access to court records and resources, streamlining processes and reducing barriers for residents navigating the legal system. He added that modernization should make services easier to use for people regardless of their background, technical experience or circumstances.
The endorsement also highlighted efficiency, accountability and the careful use of technology as central themes of Thomas' campaign.
“His focus is not simply on adopting new technology, but on using it thoughtfully to ensure every resident ... can easily access the information and services they need,” Becker said.
Becker served on the Apopka City Council and held the city's vice mayor position before resigning in April 2024 after moving outside Apopka. In his endorsement, he also identified himself as a former colleague of Thomas at the Orange County Clerk of Courts.
