Florida gas prices hold steady after 8-cent hike

Pump prices are poised for decline after oil prices dropped on Black Friday

From AAA

Florida gas prices are holding steady after rising early last week. The state average increased 8 cents per gallon - as projected in last week's Gas Price Brief.

"Despite the increase, travelers still found the lowest Thanksgiving gas prices in three years," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "Pump prices should point lower this week, based on what happened in the crude oil market, Friday. The price of crude plummeted $3 per barrel, due to ongoing tensions between the U.S. and China, and concerns that OPEC production cuts for 2020 will be unable to balance global supply and demand. Unless the energy market bounces back this week, drivers should notice a 5-10 cent drop at the pump in the next week or two."

Florida drivers are now paying $2.43 per gallon: 7 cents more than a week ago, 3 cents less than last month, and 2 cents less than this time last year. Check today's gas price average.

Florida gas prices are among the lowest in the nation. Sunday's state average of $2.43 per gallon is the 17th-lowest in the United States. Louisiana has the lowest state average in the nation ($2.22).

Florida's least expensive gas prices are found in Central Florida, while the most expensive prices are found in the panhandle and south Florida. Click here to view daily prices, a map of the gas prices around the state.
