Given the wide range of films that will drop next month, potential viewers are likely to find something they deem worth watching.
With original dramas, comedies, and a myriad of older films, there’s definitely bound to be something for everyone. Anyone looking for the perfect film for their next movie night should look no further than Prime Video. Regardless of a viewer’s interests, the streaming service has them covered in August.
One Fast Move
Streaming on August 8
Written and directed by Kelly Blatz,
One Fast Move is an adrenaline-spiking action film set within the world of motorcycle racing. The film follows a troubled young man named Wes Neal (KJ Apa), who constantly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. After realizing he can’t continue on such a path, he seeks out his estranged father, Dean Miller (Eric Dane), to pursue his ultimate dream of becoming a professional motorcycle racer. Easy said than done, achieving his goals will prove more challenging than Wes initially thought. Clearly
a physical sport, he’ll have to train in ways he never even considered.
Thankfully, he has enough discipline to train in the way the sport demands. The more time he spends on the track, and the faster he goes, the more alive and in control he feels, which helps to push him even further. With the help of a woman named Camil (Maia Reficco), whom
he falls in love with, and a wise, old motorcycle shop owner named Abe (Edward James Olmos), Wes’ aspirations begin to come to fruition. As he trains and starts to see the life he always wanted finally within reach, the walls he erected in light of his father’s absence as a child begin to crumble.
One Fast Move is streaming on Aug. 8.
The Shakedown

The Shakedown is a crime caper comedy and the first ever Prime Video original from South Africa. Set in Cape Town, the film follows the story of Justin Diamond (Carl Beukes), whose seemingly picture-perfect life is quickly upended as a result of his own misgivings. A wealthy medical aid broker, Justin’s world is flipped on its head after his mistress, Marika (Berenice Barbier), threatens to reveal their affair and her pregnancy if he doesn’t pay her off. To save face and his family, his attempts to maintain his reputation inadvertently thrust him into a world of
dangerous criminals and a violent mob boss, who just so happens to be Marika’s father.
As the situation escalates, Justin enlists the help of his “black sheep” brother Dovi (Emmanuel Castis), who seemingly fans the flames more than extinguishes them. However, it all unfolds in a comedic fashion, which will certainly keep viewers on the edge of their seats. A comedy of errors,
The Shakedown offers viewers
plenty of physical humor and a slew of comical mishaps. The hilarious film also includes performances from Julia Anastasopoulos, Jack Parow, Milton Schorr, James Borthwick, David Isaacs, and Berenice Barbier.
