Apopka’s Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet on Wednesday morning at City Hall to review a mix of special event requests and two development-related site plan items, including a proposed child care facility and an industrial project on Hermit Smith Road.

The meeting is scheduled for 9 am. Wednesday, January 21, in the Apopka City Hall Council Chambers.

Among the agenda items is a Major Development Plan application for Joy Child Academy, listed as a first submittal. The project is proposed as a child care facility located south of Chandler Road, west of Jason Dwelley Parkway, and north of Silver Break Street, with Jun Sohn listed as the project manager.

The committee will also review a Construction Site Plan application for Hermit Smith Industrial, also listed as a first submittal. The project is proposed at 135 Hermit Smith Road and lists the proposed use as an auto repair garage, warehouse, and industrial outdoor storage, with Amer Hamza serving as the project manager.

In addition to development items, the DRC agenda includes three special event requests. The first is a dinner-and-show fundraiser hosted by the Apopka/Altamonte Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10147, scheduled for February 21 at the Apopka Community Center, 519 S. Central Ave.

The second special event request is the Central Florida Community BBQ, organized by Madison Recruiting Firm, scheduled for June 13 at Kit Land Nelson Park.

The third special event request is the Apopka Serves Foundation 5th Street Car Show, scheduled for February 1 on 5th Street between Central Avenue and Park Avenue.
