Apopka’s Development Review Committee will consider three items during its Wednesday morning meeting at City Hall, including a proposed expansion to a church on Rock Springs Road, a special event permit for a Father’s Day concert at the Apopka Amphitheater, and a construction site plan for an asphalt maintenance business on South Highland Avenue.

The meeting begins at 9 am Wednesday in the Apopka City Hall Commission Chambers and includes one special event application and two construction site plan reviews.

One of the larger proposals on the agenda is a first-submittal construction site plan for the Gospel Centered Church at 4490 Rock Springs Road. The proposal calls for a 9,600-square-foot building addition to the existing church campus. The property covers approximately 3.16 acres and includes plans related to paving, drainage, utilities, fire access, and site infrastructure improvements.

Also scheduled for review is a first-submittal construction site plan for Pave A Lot Asphalt Maintenance Inc. at 951 South Highland Avenue. The project narrative states the goal is to engineer the site for “storage, including grading, drainage, and ground cover.” Plans show a proposed 1,587-square-foot building and approximately 13,688 square feet of recycled asphalt storage on the 0.57-acre site.

The committee will also review a special event permit request for “Father’s Day: Best of the World,” a concert event planned for June 21 at the Apopka Amphitheater.

According to the application, the event is described as a “community-focused entertainment event celebrating fathers, family, and positive social engagement through music and live performances.” Organizers estimate attendance at approximately 2,000 people and plan to include food trucks, alcohol service, tents, and private security. The application states the event would run from 3 pm to 10 pm at the amphitheater.

The Development Review Committee typically reviews projects for compliance with city development regulations before proposals move forward in the approval process.
