*****
Disney+ will turn up the nostalgia in August with the premiere of “Camp Rock 3,” but the month’s streaming schedule stretches well beyond the return of Connect 3.
Related: Everything streaming in July.
The lineup includes a new “Star Wars: Visions” limited series, the third season of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” new episodes of “X-Men ’97,” the original “Pokémon: Indigo League,” a Disney Princess concert, nature programming, documentaries and a wide selection of live sports.
Some titles will be available directly through Disney+, while others are shared Disney+ and Hulu releases. Access to Hulu programming and certain live sports may depend on a subscriber’s plan.
Connect 3 returns to Camp Rock
“Camp Rock 3” arrives Aug. 14, bringing Connect 3 back to the camp where the musical franchise began.
After losing the opening act for their reunion tour, the band returns to Camp Rock to find its replacement. The competition among the campers tests friendships and creates new rivalries, alliances and romances.
The Jonas Brothers return as Connect 3, alongside a cast that includes familiar faces and a new generation of campers.
‘Star Wars,’ Marvel and magical families
“Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi” debuts Aug. 5, expanding the story introduced in the animated “Visions” shorts. The limited series follows Lah Kara as she continues her Jedi training and joins a mission to rescue her father and stop a mysterious Sith leader.
Also arriving that day is the complete third season of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.” The story follows Billie as she searches for a way to rescue Alex and reunites with her long-lost father.
Marvel’s “X-Men ’97” continues its second season with new episodes before reaching its season finale Aug. 12. Later in the month, “Venom: The Last Dance” joins the Disney+ movie library Aug. 25.
New choices for children and families
Young viewers will have several new and returning programs throughout the month.
“CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends” premieres Aug. 4, followed by “Pokémon: Indigo League” and new “SuperKitties” episodes Aug. 7. Other additions include new episodes of “Chibiverse,” “Magicampers,” “Sofia the First: Royal Magic,” “Gracie’s Corner” and “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.”
“LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem” premieres Aug. 21 during World Princess Week. The new animated adventure finds the Disney Princess characters and their animal friends attempting to uncover who is responsible for chaos inside their castle.
The following day brings a five-episode premiere of “Big City Greens” Season 5.
Concerts, documentaries and live sports
“Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration” premieres Aug. 16. Filmed at Disneyland Resort, the performance brings together Disney Princess performers from animation, live action, theater and music.
The nature series “LION” arrives Aug. 20. From “The Lion King” director Jon Favreau and BBC Studios executive producer Mike Gunton, the series follows a lion cub named Kio on his journey toward becoming a leader.
“9/11 Reunited,” premiering Aug. 22, tells the stories of survivors seeking to reconnect with strangers who shared life-or-death moments during the terrorist attacks.
Disney+ will also carry WNBA games, PGA Tour coverage, Banana Ball, the U.S. Open, Lollapalooza livestreams and the LoL KeSPA Cup during the month.
Disney has also announced that “Disney Worldbuilders,” a documentary about the artists and innovators behind Disney’s immersive environments, will arrive sometime in August. A specific streaming date has not been announced. The schedule is subject to change.
