Demings Digest: Black History Month and 100 Years of Parks highlights February in Orange County

Posted

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings publishes a monthly newsletter called "The Demings Digest". Here is the February edition:

"What an exciting start to the year! Together, we celebrated newly installed public artwork on display at our Sculpture on the Lawn exhibit outside the County Administration Building and opened our doors to the public during our Open House and Job Fair event last month. In the coming weeks, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in the many initiatives, events, and celebrations taking place across Orange County.

Public safety remains a key priority in 2024, which is why we are committed to enhancing traffic safety through the recently launched Vision Zero Orange County initiative. I encourage you to attend one of our interactive meetings this month and share your thoughts on how we can work together to eliminate traffic-related deaths on Orange County roads. Scroll down further in this newsletter to learn more.

Our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative continues its mission of honoring Dr. King’s legacy by fostering inclusiveness through year-round community outreach activities. Explore the special events planned for Black History Month by visiting the event calendar.

Finally, did you know Orange County’s first park was created 100 years ago? Join us in celebrating this historic milestone for Orange County Parks and Recreation by visiting one of the many parks, trails, boat ramps and recreation centers located throughout the County.

I wish you a safe and successful month ahead!"
