Debate Night: Apopka City Commission candidates square off in second debate

Posted

On Thursday night, Apopka voters will have a second chance to hear the four candidates running for office express their ideas to move the community forward at the Apopka Involved Voters 2024 City Commission Forum.

And as election day approaches, local candidate forums become increasingly important. Forums provide an opportunity for voters to learn more about those running for office in their community. By attending a forum, voters can hear directly from the candidates and better understand their stance on important issues. This information can be invaluable when it comes time to cast a vote, making local candidate forums a crucial part of the democratic process.

In the Seat #3 election, Nadia Anderson is taking on Darryl Richardson. Both are first-time candidates for elected office in Apopka.

In Seat #4, it's a rematch of 2022 with incumbent Nick Nesta challenged by Eric Mock.

The Apopka Involved Voters Group posted the following statement on its Facebook page:

"You can attend the "Apopka Involved Voters" 2024 Apopka City Commission Candidate Forum at  7:00 PM on January 25th at the Victory Church World Outreach Center, 509 South Park Avenue in Apopka. If you can't attend, you can watch it via the Apopka Chief live stream on the Apopka Chief Facebook page.

Since 2020, the Apopka Involved Voters, a community group that seeks to inform Voters on current and emerging issues that can directly affect their quality of life in the City of Apopka, has sponsored the forum.

Dr. Hank Dunn is moderating.

The forum allows voters to hear directly from all the candidates and, based on their answers, help determine who best can serve them in a representative form of government, and lets Apopka voters determine which candidate’s platform best reflects their vision for Apopka, which best aligns with the voter’s view of a community based on a sustainable quality of life."

If you missed the January 16th Apopka Chamber of Commerce Apopka Commissioner Candidate Debate on Tuesday, January 16th, you can access it here.
