Cookies and Milk with a Cop is coming to Apopka this weekend

Posted

Join the Apopka Police Department for Cookies and Milk with a Cop this Saturday at the North Orange Branch Library from 11 AM to 12 PM. Bring your kids to meet our local police officers, enjoy a story, arts and crafts, and cookies and milk provided by McDonald’s in Apopka (LCL—McDonald's).

Cookies and Milk with a Cop is an initiative started by Officer Andrew Raphael of the Winter Garden Police Department. The goal is to bring kids and Cops together in a fun, non-traditional environment that builds trust and makes friends. The event is on the third Saturday of every month and usually lasts 1–2 hours, depending on the stories and crafts.

The APD provides a police officer to read to the children.

McDonald's provides cookies and milk.

The Apopka Library provides a comfortable setting for the event.

Cookies & Milk with a Cop is free.

North Orange Branch Library is located at 1211 East Semoran Boulevard in Apopka.

The officer will read 2-3 books to the kids and hand out police stickers, pencils, and safety bracelets. After storytime, the children will be able to participate in arts and crafts provided by the library.

"This is a valuable event for our agency in order to connect better with our citizens," said Officer Jason Wiggins. "The children and parents enjoy the interaction, and it provides a great opportunity for them to ask questions about our profession."

Reservations are NOT necessary.

The APD hosts the event on the third Saturday of the month. Visit its website, www.Apopka.gov/Storytime, to learn more!
