Commissioner Billie Dean says goodbye to the Apopka City Council

Posted

Apopka City Commissioner Billie Dean closed out his final meeting on the City Council with this statement during the City Commissioner's Reports:

Commissioner Billie Dean

"I'm Baptist so get comfortable because we Baptist preach a long time. I can truly say I've enjoyed my time as a public servant. I've worked with great people and met great people. I always said that if I have family, friends, and faith everything will be fine. Personally, I would like to put politics aside and thank each and every one of you who expressed sympathy for me and my family after the loss of my daughter. Your flowers, gifts, and words of comfort meant a lot for me and I asked that you keep us in your prayers. To the Mayor and City Council, I thank you for your service. As one council person said we do not always see eye-to-eye, but we are not supposed to agree on everything. Thanks to all of my supporters. The Apopka Fire and Police Departments, and all city employees you are so respectful and you have helped me in more ways than I can express. To the new Mayor and new Commissioners... just do your best to represent ALL citizens of Apopka. It shouldn't matter whether you live on the north side or the east side or the south side or the west side. It doesn't matter if you sit in seat 1,2,3,4 or if you sit in the big seat remember who you were elected to represent. Finally, I must thank my wife for her support. She would often give me the devil about something I said or did that was embarrassing, but she always had my back. I wish you all Godspeed and I love Apopka. Thank you."
