The City of Apopka will begin a sewer lateral lining project on select residential streets starting January 5, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain and extend the life of its underground utility infrastructure. The Utilities Department is leading the project, which will be carried out by the city’s contracted vendor, BLD.

According to city officials, the work will take place in two phases and is expected to continue through February 28, 2026. From January 5 through late February, crews will inspect and assess sewer laterals within the project area. Once inspections are complete, identified laterals will be lined to reinforce existing pipes, reduce the likelihood of future sewer failures, and improve long-term system reliability.
Sewer lateral lining is a trenchless repair method that strengthens aging pipes from the inside, minimizing excavation and disruption to streets, yards, and landscaping. City officials say the project is a proactive investment aimed at preventing costly sewer backups and emergency repairs in the future.
The streets included in the project area are W. Albatross Street, W. Bob White Street, W. Thrush Street, W. Nightingale Street, W. Sandpiper Street, and W. Skylark Street. Residents living along these streets should expect to see contractor vehicles and crews in the area during the project timeline.
Temporary inconveniences may include minor traffic impacts, brief access limitations, or short-term disruptions while inspections and lining work are underway. The city noted that efforts will be made to minimize disruptions and to restore affected areas as quickly as possible once work is completed.
Residents with questions or concerns about the project are encouraged to contact the City of Apopka Utilities Department directly at 407-703-1731. City officials thanked residents in advance for their patience and cooperation, emphasizing that the project is an important step toward maintaining safe, reliable sewer service for the community.
