From the City of Apopka
The City of Apopka, in its Apopka Proud weekly newsletter, released post-hurricane updates about its sanitation schedule, debris removal, federal assistance programs, and animal services for its residents.
Sanitation Schedule
Normal residential curbside trash, recycling, yard waste, and bulky collection in the City of Apopka has resumed as of Monday, October 3, 2022. Regular yard waste is bags and cans only. Regular bulky furniture and large household items only. Please Note: Collection delays are expected over the next few weeks.
FEMA Debris Removal
Our Apopka Public Services Department has initiated our FEMA Debris Removal Contract with Crowder Gulf. The contractor’s team has started operations, and crews are mobilizing now. They will begin debris removal for the City within the next week. The contractor hired by the City will be hauling away large amounts of debris – a large amount of debris that is too big for normal yard waste collection.
NOTE: THE CONTRACTORS WILL BE PICKING UP VEGETATION DEBRIS ONLY. DO NOT MIX CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS (fences, plywood, lumber, etc.) OR TRASH WITH THE VEGETATION DEBRIS. We have strict FEMA guidelines to follow.
Debris Site Open
If you would prefer NOT to wait for the FEMA contractor to pick up your vegetation debris, you can drop it off at our free drop-off location. The site is located at the Northwest Recreation Complex. Please access this site via Appy Lane. The hours of operation are 7 AM to 7 PM. This site will remain open until further notice. Residents can complete the Apopka Storm Debris Self-Haul Form for those hiring a commercial business to remove storm debris from their residential property from Hurricane Ian.
Please Note: Only vegetation debris will be accepted at this location. No construction debris (fences, lumber, etc.) or trash will be accepted.
Federal Assistance
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual Assistance can help residents recover after Hurricane Ian. Residents may qualify for:
Up to $37,900 for home repairs from FEMA
