From Staff Reports

The City of Apopka announced on its Facebook page that it will close many of its public lobbies due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Orange County.

The Florida Department of Health is reporting that Orange County’s 14-day rolling positivity rate is 11.2%. Three weeks ago, it was 4.28%.

The total positive cases is 154,674 in Orange County.

In a press conference earlier this week, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings strongly recommended that all residents – vaccinated and unvaccinated – consider wearing a mask indoors while in a crowded environment, and encouraged businesses to display signs to encourage patrons to wear a mask when indoors.

The City of Apopka released the following statement:

COVID-19 Update: Lobby Closures for City of Apopka

Due to the recent increase in the Delta variant/COVID-19 cases, we are closing the following department lobbies to the public in an abundance of caution:

• City Hall Lobby

• Utility Billing Lobby

• Apopka Police Department Lobby

• Apopka Fire Department Lobbies

This goes into effect immediately until next Friday, July 30, 2021. We will reevaluate the situation at that time to determine whether to reopen the lobbies on Monday, August 2, 2021, or remain closed.
