Central Florida Soccer Club organizes successful food drive to support Apopka schools

Over 7,500 food items donated to school food pantries to help families in need so no child goes hungry

As the holiday season approaches, the Central Florida Soccer Club (CFSC) has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the community with a successful food drive that brought much-needed relief to local families. This year, CFSC collected and donated over 7,500 food items to three local elementary schools: Apopka Elementary, Dream Lake Elementary, and Rock Springs Elementary.

Building on the success of last year’s efforts when the club donated more than 4,000 items to two schools, CFSC expanded the drive to help even more families in need. The club’s dedication to giving back has made a significant impact in Apopka, where many families rely on school food pantries to meet their nutritional needs.

“We are grateful for the generosity of our players, families, and volunteers who made this food drive possible,” said Naji S. Khouri, President of CFSC. “The support we’ve received allows us to make a real difference in our community, especially during a time when so many families are facing additional challenges.”

A Community Effort: Filling local school pantries

The donated food will be distributed through the school food pantries, which are open to students and their families. These pantries provide essential food items to help families make it through tough times, ensuring that no child goes hungry. With rising costs and increased demand for assistance, the donations have come at a crucial time, just before the holiday season.

“It means so much to our school and our families,” said Kelly Baloun, a representative from one of the receiving schools. “The items we receive through CFSC’s food drive help us provide for students and their families in ways we otherwise couldn’t. We are thankful for the club’s support.”

Making a Difference: A tradition of giving back

CFSC’s food drive is just one example of the club’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community. Each year, players, families, and coaches come together to collect food, organize donation drives, and deliver the items to local schools and organizations in need. This year’s drive, which provided a variety of non-perishable food items such as a variety of canned goods, pasta, and cereal, is another example of how CFSC is making a tangible impact in the lives of local children and families.

Looking Ahead: Continuing the tradition of community support

The success of this year’s food drive is a testament to the strength and generosity of the CFSC community. The club plans to continue its efforts to support local schools and families in the years to come, with additional initiatives and outreach programs aimed at addressing the growing need for food assistance in the area. In the spirit of the holidays, CFSC’s food drive has not only replenished food supplies for local schools but has also brought the community closer together, creating lasting bonds between players, families, and the schools they serve.
