Driver transported to hospital with minor injuries
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a call of an Orange County School bus transporting students from Apopka High School being struck in the rear by a vehicle this morning on US441 in Zellwood.
According to FHP reports, the bus and vehicle were traveling southbound on US441 near Jones Avenue in Zellwood when the bus stopped for other traffic ahead of the vehicle. For an unknown reason, the driver of the vehicle, David Hurst, 57 of Tavares, failed to stop and the front end of his 2013 Mazda struck the rear of the bus. There were students on the bus from Apopka High School, but none were transported to the hospital, and no significant injuries were reported from the students. Hurst was ticketed for careless driving and was transported to Florida Hospital - Apopka with minor injuries.
