Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Hernando County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:40 pm, a Nissan Sentra, driven by a 45-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling southbound on SR-589 near the 42 Milepost when the driver lost control of the vehicle following a medical emergency.
The vehicle traveled into the median and overturned, at which point the unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver and his nine-year-old son, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were transported to an area hospital. The driver later died while the child suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passenger involved in the crash.
