Breaking News Overnight: One dead, one critically injured after a Moped collides with vehicle in Orange County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Orange County last night that resulted in the death of a moped passenger and critical injuries to the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:02 pm, a 2023 Kia K5 driven by a 19-year-old Orlando woman was traveling westbound on State Road 50 (East Colonial Drive) east of Taylor Creek Road in the inside lane.
At the same time, a 2021 Teyin Moped driven by a 44-year-old Christmas man transporting a 42-year-old Orlando woman, was traveling ahead of the first vehicle in the inside lane.
As they approached, the first vehicle failed to slow for the Moped, and they collided. After the crash, the first vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and collided with shrubs and trees.
The Moped rider and passenger were thrown from the vehicle into the median of SR-50. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Waterford Lakes Hospital with minor injuries. The Moped driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. The Moped passenger was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.
This crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
