From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Levy County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:50 pm, a sedan driven by a 26-year-old Bronson man was traveling southbound on NE 140th Court.
At the same time, a 66-year-old Williston man riding a trike motorcycle was traveling southbound on US 27-Alternate approaching the intersection with NE 140th Court.
As they approached, the sedan crossed northbound US 27-Alternate through the median break and then attempted to cross southbound US 27-Alt. to enter the driveway of the Marathon gas station. The sedan drove into the path of the motorcycle when the front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the sedan.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to UF Health, where he was pronounced deceased.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the collision.
