Breaking News Overnight: Ft. Myers man and 3-year-old child hit and injured by vehicle in Lee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to an incident last night in Lee County that resulted in two pedestrians suffering injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:35 pm, a sedan driven by a 34-year-old North Fort Myers woman was traveling west on 5th Street, near the intersection of West Cypress Avenue.

At the same time, a 30-year-old Fort Myers man and a three-year-old boy were walking west on the outside portion of the westbound lane of 5th Street.

As the vehicle approached, it struck both pedestrians.

The first pedestrian sustained a serious injury, while the second pedestrian sustained a minor injury. Both were transported to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the driver's name or the names of the pedestrians involved in the collision.
