Breaking News Overnight: Five dead, seven injured after a van overturns in Osceola County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Osceola County last night that resulted in the death of five passengers and injuries to seven others.
According to the FHP report, a 2004 Ford F-350 van driven by a 66-year-old Fort Pierce man was traveling northbound on the Florida Turnpike at mile marker 211. As he advanced, the driver lost control of the van due to a possible tire malfunction. This caused the van to overturn several times, run off the roadway, strike a guardrail, and overturn into a ditch.
The van driver was transported via ground to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Four passengers were transported via Air Care to Osceola Regional Medical Center. There were two passengers via Air Care to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
In total, two passengers suffered serious injuries (a 54-year-old Fort Pierce man and a 46-year-old Pompano Beach man). Four passengers (a 75-year-old Ft. Pierce man, a 53-year-old Ft. Pierce man, a 52-year-old Pt. St. Lucie woman, and a 58-year-old West Palm Beach woman) suffered critical injuries.
There were five passengers (a 29-year-old Ft. Pierce man and four unidentified) pronounced deceased on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passengers involved in the crash.
