Breaking News Overnight: FHP arrests driver for DUI manslaughter after fatal collision with bicyclist in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Marion County this morning that resulted in the death of a bicyclist and a DUI-Manslaughter arrest of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:56 am, a sedan driven by a 34-year-old Fruitland Park woman was traveling westbound on State Road 25 just past the intersection of SE 80th Court.

At the same time, a 37-year-old Ocala man riding a bicycle was traveling westbound in the north shoulder ahead of the sedan.

As it approached, the front of the vehicle struck the rear of the bicyclist.

The bicyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene by Marion County Rescue Fire.

The driver of the sedan was arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter.

This incident remains under investigation.
