A 4-year-old girl from Apopka was killed Wednesday evening in a tragic driveway incident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:14 pm at Robinson Avenue near 13th Street. 

According to the FHP report, a 37-year-old Apopka woman was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse that had been parked in a private driveway. As the driver began moving eastward, she was unaware that the child was standing near the vehicle’s right-rear passenger door.

The vehicle struck the child, causing her to fall and sustain critical injuries.

The girl was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased, according to the report.

The driver was not injured and remained at the scene following the incident.

The FHP has classified the case as a traffic homicide, and the crash remains under active investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or pedestrian involved in the collision.
