Four more years.
That's the message Apopka voters sent in the 2022 Mayoral election won by incumbent Bryan Nelson over Commissioner Kyle Becker.
Nelson receved 3,601 votes (53.68%), compared to Becker with 3,107 (46.32)
Nelson become the first mayor to be re-elected since John Land in 2010.
It was a long, hard-fought campaign that began when Nelson announced his reelection bid on March 25th, followed by Becker's announcement a few months later on August 5th,. The total vote count of 6,708 was the largest in the history of Apopka mayoral elections. It outdistanced Apopka's 2018 mayoral election turnout of 6,451.
Joining Nelson on the City Council will be Commissioner Diane Velazquez and Commissioner-elect Nick Nesta.
In the Apopka City Commission Seat #2 race, Velazquez defeated first-time candidate and Apopka businessman Wes Dumey with 4,603 votes (69.92%). Dumey received 1,982 votes (30.1%).
In the Apopka City Commission Seat #4 race, Nesta received 3,925 votes (61.46%) to defeat Eric Mock, who received 2,461 votes (38.54%)
