As Hurricane Helene intensifies and nears Florida, the City of Apopka is stepping up to protect its residents by offering free sandbags in preparation for the potential storm forecasted to hit later this week. The initiative aims to help residents safeguard their properties and ensure community safety as the weather threatens to bring heavy rain and flooding.
Sandbags will be available for residents beginning Tuesday, September 24th
The City of Apopka will have sandbags available for residents at Edwards Field, located at the corner of Forest and 1st Street (behind Kit Land Nelson Park). To get to Edwards Field, please take Highland Avenue near the Dog Park. There is a limit of 10 bags per household. Shovels are available for residents to fill the sandbags.
