Breaking Morning News: One dead, three injured after a three-vehicle collision in Seminole County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision this morning in Seminole County that resulted in the death of a passenger and injuries to three others.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:13 am, a 2018 Ram 2500 driven by a 36-year-old Geneva woman was traveling westbound on State Road 46 west of Mullet Lake Park Road. 

At the same time, a 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van driven by a 46-year-old Sanford man was traveling westbound on SR-46 west of Mullet Lake Park Road ahead of the first vehicle.

A 2020 Cadillac XT6 driven by a 43-year-old DeBary man was traveling eastbound on SR-46 in the opposite direction of the two vehicles.

As they approached, the first driver attempted to pass the second, but observed the third vehicle approaching and swerved back into the westbound lane. However, the two vehicles collided as it re-entered.

The first vehicle then ran off the roadway and caught fire.

The drivers of the first two vehicles were not transported to hospitals, but the first driver did report minor injuries to the FHP.

The driver of the third vehicle and two passengers were transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

A 68-year-old Cincinnati, OH, man who was a passenger in the third vehicle was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

This crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
