Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Pasco County this morning that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5 a.m., a Dodge Challenger driven by a 20-year-old Tampa man was traveling eastbound on SR-54.
West of Collier Parkway, a 21-year-old Land O Lakes woman, running southbound across the highway, entered the path of and was struck by the vehicle.
Transported to an area hospital, the pedestrian later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or the passenger involved in the incident.
