Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Levy County that resulted in the death of a golf cart driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:12 am, a golf cart driven by a 39-year-old Trenton woman was traveling south on SE 8th Street within a dark area with no street lighting.
At the same time, a sedan driven by a 48-year-old Trenton man was traveling south on SE 8 Street, approaching the slower-moving golf cart from the rear.
The sedan hit the rear of the golf cart, which caused it to overturn in the roadway, and eject the driver. The golf cart driver sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The sedan driver was not injured.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
