Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Zellwood this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:36 am, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Jones Avenue west of Jewel Foliage Road.

At the same time, a 1985 dump truck was traveling westbound on Jones Avenue west of Jewel Foliage Road ahead of the first vehicle.

As it approached the first vehicle failed to slow or stop for the dump truck ahead. As a result, the front of the first vehicle struck the rear of the second.

The dump truck driver, a 38-year-old man from Eustis, was not injured.

There was a roadblock in both directions of travel on Jones Avenue as of 7:30 am.

This crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers.
