Breaking Afternoon News: Motorcyclist dies after a two-vehicle collision in Hernando County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Hernando County this afternoon that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:50 PM , a Nissan Sentra, driven by a 70-year-old Plant City woman, was traveling southbound on US-41.
At the same time, a Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide, operated by a 67-year-old Spring Hill man, was also traveling southbound on US-41.
North of Shady Rest Court, the motorcycle attempted to pass the vehicle in an authorized passing zone when the first driver attempted to turn left into a driveway entrance, entered the motorcycle's path, and collided.
Transported to an area hospital, the motorcyclist later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The first driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the collision.
