How do most 11 year-old girls spend their weekends? For Izzy M. Pellot the choice is golf. Competitive golf.
Pellot has been on on quite a roll. The Apopkan has won two out of the last three events on the web.com Spring Series tournaments sponsored by The National Junior Golf Foundation. Her most recent victory was at the Titleist Invitational at the St. John's Golf Club in St. Augustine. Pellot fired rounds of 73-73 to win in the girl's 13-18 age division.
Earlier this season, Pellot won the President's Day Invitational with scores of 77-76 at Deercreek CC in Jacksonville. She was second at The University of Florida Invitational in Gainesville with a round of 72.
Pellot beat 18 other girls in the event this weekend. The girls competed from the white tees on the 5,830 yard South/North courses at the St. John's Golf Club.
Izzy shot a 2-over-par 73 on Saturday, which put her 2 strokes behind 12-year-old Chloe Schiavone who shot even par 72. On Sunday Izzy made up the 2-stroke deficit on the front nine by shooting one-over-par 37 to Schiavone's three-over par 39. Izzy's consistency ruled the day as she shot one-over-par 36 on the back nine and cruised to a five-shot victory.
