The Apopka Woman’s Club (AWC) is a not-for-profit civic organization that supports the Apopka community. The AWC is a proud member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, an international organization impacting communities all over the world. The Apopka Woman’s Club has been providing scholarships for local Apopka residents since the 1960’s, and our principal fundraiser is the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival, held annually in April to raise funds for the scholarship program. In addition to being a serious academic student, the ideal scholarship candidate reflects the values of the Apopka Woman’s Club: a woman who is service and community-minded and dedicated to improving the lives of others through volunteerism.

This change was done immediately upon discovering that, when using ChatGPT (ai) to crop the original photo from vertical to horizontal in the editorial process so we could use it as the feature photo, ai also - on its own without our request - smoothed out lighting and features to make the photo clearer, as well as changed the overhead screen to show that it was from the Apopka Woman's Club event. The only request The Apopka Voice staff made to ai was to crop the photo from vertical to horizontal. We did not request any additional alterations and did not realize ai had done this until it was brought to our attention. It is the policy of The Apopka Voice to never alter anything in the content of any photo - not the people in it nor the environment/surroundings.
