Apopka to honor 28 community leaders at 2026 Legends of Apopka event

Fourth annual student-led book release and recognition ceremony set for Feb. 19 at the Apopka Community Center

The Legends of Apopka ceremony will take place from 6 to 8 pm at the Apopka Community Center. Mayor Bryan Nelson will emcee the program, which includes presentations by the Apopka Youth Council and performances by the Rollins College Gospel Choir. The fourth edition of the student-led Legends of Apopka book will be available for purchase at the event.

The City of Apopka and the Apopka Youth Council are proud to announce our Legends of Apopka Event on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Apopka Community Center.

The program will feature a presentation by the Apopka Youth Council recognizing the 2026  Legends of Apopka and their families. The event will be emceed by Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson, and a proclamation will be read. There will be special performances, including  Rollins College Gospel Choir, and a reception with light refreshments. 

The City of Apopka will also release the fourth annual Legends of Apopka book during the event. This book will be available for purchase during the event ($10 cash only).  

“We are thrilled to celebrate the release of the fourth edition of the Legends of Apopka book and to recognize 28 individuals whose stories have helped shape our community,” Nelson said. “We  are thankful for the dedication of our Apopka Youth Council and Ms. Francina Boykin in honoring the legends of our city.”

About the Book | The Legends of Apopka book is a student-led book project spearheaded by the  Apopka Youth Council in partnership with Francina Boykin, Vice President of the Apopka Historical  Society. The fourth edition honors 28 individuals whose contributions have helped shape the Apopka community.
