School Zone Safety: A Message from Apopka Fire and Police

With classes back in session, drivers are urged to slow down and stay alert, especially around school zones, bus stops, and crosswalks.

Safety tips for drivers and students:

  • Yield to pedestrians—even at unmarked crossings

  • Always stop for school buses and crossing guards

  • Leave at least 3 feet when passing bicycles

  • Avoid blocking crosswalks at intersections

  • Use turn signals and drive distraction-free

  • Students walking or biking should follow traffic rules and wear helmets

Parents are encouraged to practice school routes with children, whether they walk, ride bikes, or take the bus.
