Posted

The Apopka Police Department added a new officer to its force in a Tuesday swearing-in ceremony at City Hall.

Officer Davin Keitt, a young and dedicated individual, is only nineteen years old, was born in Orlando, and grew up in Apopka, where he attended and graduated from Apopka High School in 2023.

Keitt’s commitment to his community is evident in his career choice and educational pursuits. In 2024, he completed the police academy through Lake Technical College. This achievement marks the beginning of what many hope will be a distinguished career in law enforcement.

Keitt expressed his enthusiasm for serving the community, which shaped him. His hobbies, including going to the gym, engaging in team sports, and studying Norse mythology, showcase a well-rounded individual who values physical fitness and intellectual curiosity.

These interests, coupled with his desire to give back, suggest that he will bring a unique perspective to his role within the department.

Currently, the APD has 127 sworn officers working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

“We are excited to welcome Officer Keitt to the Apopka Police Department," said Apopka Police Chief Michael McKinley. "As an Apopka resident and graduate of Apopka High School, he brings a deep connection to our community. His genuine passion for service is evident, and we look forward to supporting him in what we anticipate will be a long and successful career with the department,”

As Apopka continues to grow and evolve, Keitt’s fresh perspective and enthusiasm will undoubtedly be valuable assets to the department, enhancing community-policing efforts and fostering positive relationships between officers and residents. The residents of Apopka can look forward to seeing Officer Keitt actively engaging with them as he embarks on this important journey in law enforcement
