Editor's Note: Apopka Fire Chief Wil Sanchez sent the following statement about the Push-In Ceremony for the new Fire Truck, Engine 2, held at Fire Station #2.
On Tuesday, the Apopka Fire Department and our community gathered at Apopka Fire Station Two (302 West Welch Road) to celebrate a cherished fire service tradition—the official push-in ceremony for our new Fire Truck, Engine 2.
The push-in ceremony, rooted in the history of the fire service, stands as a symbol of our connection to those who paved the way for us. It is a tradition that reminds us of a time when firefighters physically pushed their equipment into the bay, showcasing their dedication and teamwork. Though we may no longer move our equipment by hand, this tradition reflects our commitment to service.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our supportive community. Everyone who joined us for this momentous occasion—from our dedicated firefighters and on-duty crews to community members, the City of Apopka Mayor, and Commissioners—helped make this event special.
Apopka's Rosenbauer Commander Series apparatus features a 2000-gallon-per-minute water pump and a 1,000-gallon onboard water tank. The truck is equipped for firefighting, rescue, and EMS advanced life support responses.
