The Northwest Orange Republican Women Federated will host a Forum for the local 2024 election for the Apopka City Council Candidates, on Thursday, February 15, at The Hilton Garden-Inn, Apopka City Center, 580 E. Main Street, Apopka.

The Forum will be a panel of candidates running for the Apopka 2024 race for  City Council Seat 3, and City Council Seat 4. This is an opportunity to listen to each candidate and have your questions asked and answered.

SEAT #3 CANDIDATES

Darryl Richardson was born in Augusta, Ga., and the son of Army Col. John Richardson and Elsie Richardson. He's married with two children.

Richardson's career started in Florida in the late 1980s in the commercial printing business, focusing on the computer systems required and moving into the Cyber Security and Data Governance roles with locally based Symantec/Veritas. Currently, he is with Egnyte, an SAAS-based data Governance tool. His title is Data Governance Architect, and he sees a need to protect the security and integrity of privacy data across the globe.

Richardson is an investor at Three Odd Guys but also owns a large stake in the brewery and spends a lot of time working on-site.

He is passionate about Apopka and its continued improvement. As a part of Apopka’s very own Three Odd Guys Brewing, Richardson sees firsthand the need to progress Apopka into a destination like other cities in the central Florida area.

Nadia Anderson has a diverse background, from her time in the federal government working in security on the Fort Greely Air Force Base in Alaska to her social services role at the Department of Children and Families in Orange County and as a probation officer for the Department of Juvenile Justice before moving into real estate.

She owns Prestige Property Consultants here in Apopka. And it's her expertise in business that she believes gives her the experience to be effective on the City Council.

Anderson advocates for a comprehensive growth plan involving a committee and an outside agency to ensure sustainable development. "With the growth in Apopka, I feel that the infrastructure, the roads, the public transportation, I feel like it's not adequate," she said. I think this is our community... that's one of the biggest challenges. Even though growth is good, I want to make sure that we're able to sustain that growth."

SEAT #4 CANDIDATES

Nick Nesta, Incumbent, is a first term commissioner, winning the special election for the vacated Seat #4 in 2022. Nesta is defending his seat for the 2024 City Commissioner office. Nesta resides in Apopka with his wife and two daughters.

“I haven’t slowed since being elected. I have continually supported, promoted, and engaged small businesses throughout our community. Offering new opportunities for growth, sustainability, and community engagement for our small businesses, as your current Seat 4 Commissioner, has been a strong focus of mine throughout my tenure”.

Nesta feels his commission seat requires someone that engages the community on all levels. As your elected representative he has done this and will continue these efforts once re-elected!

Eric Mock has lived with wife Rhonda, his biggest supporter, in Florida since 1994. They have been married for 33 years and have two wonderful Golden Retriever dogs, Bailey, and Riley. After a 31-year career in healthcare leadership, Mock became a realtor and helped others to achieve the American dream of homeownership.

Mock is a real estate agent at You Have Realty, and president of the Vistas on Water's Edge Homeowners Association, where he lives.

Mock says he is running to provide a voice of reason and believes the council has gotten off track in doing the business of the city. He looks forward to the campaign and working for Apopka and its future.
