On behalf of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Initiative, Mayor Jerry L. Demings is pleased to announce the County’s participation in various events taking place in January 2025.
Comprised of local community partners and stakeholders from the private, public, and non-profit sectors, the mission of the Orange County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative is to celebrate and recognize Dr. King’s legacy through programs that promote unity, diversity, and connectivity. Increasing awareness while engaging in cultural differences fosters a sense of growth and cohesiveness. Honoring Dr. King’s contribution to humanity as a community truly reflects our County’s vision of diversity.
2025 MLK Events:
Launched in 1990, the ZORA! ® Festival is a 3-day Outdoor Festival of the Arts that features public talks, museum exhibitions, theatrical productions, and arts education. This year’s event is scheduled for January 31 – February 2, 2025.
Black History Month 2025
On January 28th, Mayor Jerry Demings and the Board of County Commission will present the annual proclamation recognizing February as Black History Month. It will be presented to the Black History Committee of Orange County.
