Each new officer brings a diverse background and a strong commitment to public service.
Collins, an Apopka native and Apopka High School graduate, is certified in firefighting and EMT standards and aspires to join specialized units like K-9 and narcotics.
Keitt, also an Apopka High graduate and former football player, hopes to become a positive role model through youth outreach and departmental leadership.
Originally from Texas, Lyle brings six years of corrections experience and was the top law enforcement academy class graduate.
Martinez, a former NYPD officer with a degree in Forensic Psychology, wants to join a K-9 unit.
Ramirez-Vargas, originally from Cuba, previously worked as a dispatcher for the APD and now aims to join the Criminal Investigations Division.
“We are excited to welcome these officers to the ranks of the Apopka Police Department," said McKinley. "Each brings a unique background and valuable skill set that will contribute to our mission of serving the community. Deputy Chief (Lovetta) Quinn-Henry and I extend our best wishes to each of them for a long, successful, and rewarding career with our agency.”
The ceremony highlighted Apopka’s ongoing investment in public safety and community trust, as the department grows and diversifies its team.
