The Apopka Police Department reported four burglary incidents during the week of May 31 through June 6, according to the agency's latest burglary report. The incidents included two residential burglaries and two vehicle burglaries reported across different areas of the city.

According to the report, a residential burglary was reported on May 31 in the 1850-1859 block of Olivia Circle. A second residential burglary was reported on June 2 in the 720-729 block of Marvin C. Zanders Avenue.
Police also recorded two vehicle burglaries during the reporting period. One was reported June 4 in the 1300-1309 block of Marden Road, while another was reported June 6 in the 1560-1569 block of West Orange Blossom Trail.
The incidents remain subject to change as investigations continue. The police department notes that reported incidents may be updated based on the outcome of ongoing investigations.

Here are a few tips to protect against home burglaries:
- Make your home look occupied, and make it difficult to break in.
- Lock all outside doors and windows before leaving or going to bed.
- Keep your garage door closed and locked.
- Don't allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers, or flyers to build up while you are away. Arrange with the Post Office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them regularly.
- Arrange your lawn to be mowed if you are going away for an extended time.
- Check your locks on doors and windows and replace them with secure devices as necessary.
- Pushbutton locks on doorknobs are easy for burglars to open. Install deadbolt locks on all your outside doors.
- Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security.
- Other windows may need better locks. Check with a locksmith or hardware store for alternatives.
- Don't share your vacation plans on social media.
The Apopka Police Department tells us that many vehicle burglaries could have been prevented if everyone remembered to do just two things:
- Remove all valuables from your vehicle
- Lock your car doors
