AAA: Florida's average gas price is 3 cents more than last week

Florida gas prices averaged $3.10 per gallon on Monday. The state average is 3 cents more than what drivers paid a week ago, 8 cents more than last month, but 37 cents less than this time last year.

"Crude oil prices are flat, despite various geopolitical issues," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "Last week, the state average briefly dipped below $3 a gallon for the first time since December. However, the state average rebounded to its current price, which is within the same range that gas prices have been in through most of this year."

Ways to Save on Gasoline

1. Combine errands to limit driving time.
2. Drive conservatively. Avoid aggressive acceleration and speeding, which reduces fuel economy.
3. Remove excess weight in your vehicle. Every 100 pounds taken out of the vehicle improves fuel economy by 1-2 percent.
4. Shop around for the best gas prices in your community by using the AAA mobile app. 
5. Pay with cash. Some retailers charge more per gallon for customers who pay with a credit card.
