Deep, slow breaths help you manage the physical symptoms of the anxiety attack. While it might not remove these completely, managing them can be a welcome part of dealing with the situation.

If you feel an anxiety attack coming up, sit down somewhere and take a few deep breaths. It could even prevent the anxiety attack from happening completely.

2. Determine what’s making you anxious

To figure out how to manage your anxiety, you’ll need to know what’s causing it. Focusing on figuring this out goes a long way in managing the condition. It can be harder to do this than many people may realize, however.

Take the time to explore your thoughts and feelings when you’re feeling anxious. Try to determine if specific topics or themes keep coming up or if you primarily feel anxious in certain situations. These can be seen as your triggers.

Once you know what these are, you can better determine how to minimize your exposure to them or address them. It will help you reduce the impact these triggers have on your daily life.
