Wins National APGA award for excellence

District General Manager and CEO Samuel Davis Jr. Named First Vice Chair of the APGA Board

The Lake Apopka Natural Gas District has more than one reason to celebrate following the American Public Gas Association (APGA) Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon.

The District was awarded the Silver SOAR Award – its third SOAR Award win since 2015 – which recognizes excellence in the areas of system integrity, system improvement, employee safety and workforce development.

“We are honored to be recognized as an excellent employer and service provider,” said Samuel Davis Jr., District general manager, and CEO. “We continually strive to provide the highest level of service and value to our customers, employees, and community. Having received this award yet again is a testament to that commitment.”

In addition, Davis was officially appointed as first vice chair of the APGA Board of Directors, following his service as second vice chair for the past year. As first vice chair, Davis will continue to support the board’s dedication to education about America’s public gas systems and communicating new developments in the marketplace that could affect the communities and consumers they serve.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sam to his new role. With his extensive knowledge and experience working with natural gas utilities, he has proven to be an invaluable asset,” said Bert Kalisch, APGA president, and CEO. “Positioning advocates like Sam at the forefront of our efforts is key to achieving our goal of promoting safety, awareness, and competitiveness of natural gas nationwide.”

Lake Apopka Natural Gas District provides clean, efficient and economical natural gas service to more than 22,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Orange and Lake counties.
