Apopka Police: "Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving"

Posted

The Apopka Police Department (APD) is participating in a state-wide effort to reduce drunk driving during Spring Break.

APD, the Orange County Community Traffic Safety Team and other local law enforcement agencies, will participate in a spring break traffic enforcement detail. With bike week and spring break beginning, the APD wants the driving public to be safe and aware of other vehicles on the roadway.

Multi-agency DUI saturation patrols are a valuable tool in law enforcement’s continuing efforts to remove impaired drivers and unsafe vehicles from the road. The primary focus of this operation will be on drivers who choose to drive under the influence of alcohol, chemical, and/or other controlled substances and to promote awareness of safe driving, to include the enforcement of seat belt laws. The goal is to reduce the number of crashes, fatalities, injuries, and the severity of injuries on the highways, streets and roadways throughout Apopka and Orange County.

Remember,

“Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.”

Don’t become a statistic, choose a designated driver.

If you have questions, or need more information, please call the APD's traffic unit at 407-703-1771.
