Apopka Burglary Report: Week Ending - 7/11/2016

The Apopka Burglary Report for the week 7/5 - 7/11/2016 shows 18 burglaries reported in the City of Apopka. Half of which were Residential Burglaries.

The Residential Burglaries reported more than doubled from the previous week. The home burglaries were spread out across the city with only one small cluster on the map. Two residents in the Chalet North subdivision off of Orange Blossom Trail reported their homes were burglarized.

Some ways to make your home less attractive to burglars according to Bankrate.com:

  • Trim back any overgrown vegetation so that your home's windows, porches and doors are visible to neighbors and passersby.
  • Use shades, drapes and other window treatments to keep potentially tempting household items out of view.
  • Adequate nighttime illumination is critical, because a dark or poorly lit property makes it easier for a burglar to go about unseen. Motion sensor lights a perfect deterrents as they startle the burglar and are a visual alert to the homeowner.

In the Wekiva Run subdivision off of Plymouth Sorrento Road, 3 Vehicle Burglaries were reported.

The breakdown of the burglaries reported to the Apopka Police Department last week:

      • 3 - Business
      • 9 - Residential
      • 6 - Vehicle

As the interactive map shows, the burglaries were spread out across the City last week. No clusters to report.
