Congressman Daniel Webster decision to vacate his 10th Congressional District seat to run in Florida’s 11th Congressional District ignited Thuy’s interest to run to succeed him.

Florida’s new 10th Congressional District absorbed all of the Orange County voting population of the old 5th Congressional District.

“Over the last few months, I have been encouraged by voters in the district to run again.” Thuy Lowe said, “I am running because I’m deeply concerned about the disappearance of good paying job opportunities in this country, the over taxation and over regulation of small businesses, the increasing cost of healthcare, and the lack of support for our veterans. We need a restoration of leadership in Washington; we need leaders who are willing to make tough decisions to restore our great nation.”

As a child, Thuy and her family were airlifted out of South Vietnam and onto the USS Midway on April 30, 1975; it was in one of the last helicopters to leave the rooftop of a diplomatic compound. Her family escaped the brutal Communist forces that have dominated Vietnam ever since. They began a new life in Orlando with the help from a local Winter Park church, which provided them with temporary assistance including clothing, housing, employment and food.

Florida 10th Congressional District The "new" 10th Congressional District includes Apopka as well as Northwest, West and Southwest Orange County.

Thuy has been a resident of Central Florida since 1975. She graduated from Edgewater High School and later from the University of Central Florida, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Marketing. She started a non-emergency medical transportation service company with only $50. The company grew to 10 vehicles and about 15 employees.

Retiring from her business after 10 years, Thuy, a wife and mother of two sons, then spent her time raising her children and managing their family’s real estate investments.

Thuy is a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a past board member of East Lake County Chamber of Commerce, a former Rotarian, and a recipient of Lake County School Volunteer of the Year for four consecutive years.
