Inspiration
By Charles Towne
I was in our local Chick-Fil-A restaurant and as I stuffed my ugly mug with one of their delicious filet’s I was also practicing one of my favorite pastimes, people watching.
At the next table a grandpa was playing with his little grand-daughter. I was to learn that her name is Violet, and that she is two years old, and what a delightful flower she is!
As I watched, grandpa stood, told little Violet to stay where she was, and walked to the counter, but on his way he turned several times to assure himself that she was doing as instructed. Each time he turned he smiled at her and waved. Violet sat and watched grandpa and when he waved, she waved back. Then grandpa, smiling all the time, threw little Violet a kiss, to which she responded by throwing a big, juicy, noisy, slobbery kiss right back at him.
Grandpa soon returned with a handful of napkins, leaned close and said in a low voice, “I love you Violet.” To which she replied, “I uv oo too grampa.” Or something like that but my hearing being what it is who knows for sure, but then it isn’t really important because the mutual adoration was obvious.
As I watched the two of them interact I couldn’t help but think of Papa God, and how much He yearns to have a loving relationship with each of us just like that which I was witnessing between Violet and her doting grandpa. I think that just perhaps God is constantly smiling at us while throwing kisses and whispering, “I love you.” In our ears.
Oh what a glorious wonder that He loves us the way He does! But then, how could he not? For after all, we are His kids, and as much as we love our children He loves us the more.
Our prayer
Dear Papa God, I love you. Help me to be what you want me to be. Help me to please you, and to bring you joy. Help me to hear your voice calling my name. Help me to feel your hand upon my brow, and please, O God, help others to see you in me. Praise you O Holy God, in Jesus’ sweet and blessed name I ask it, Amen.
Live fully,
Love openly,
Trust God, and make a difference, today.
