Just 22 days after Apopka voters received their vote-by-mail ballots, already over 2,000 have spoken.
With four days remaining before early voting begins in Apopka, and 11 days before Election Day, 2,045 ballots have been received by the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office (SOE) in the race for mayor, and two city commission seats.
According to the SOE, 916 (44.7%) of the ballots received are from registered Republicans, 747 (36.5%) are from Democrats, and 382 (18.6%) are listed as independent, no party affiliation, or others.
In 2018, 2,575 (39.6%) Apopka voters used vote-by-mail ballots, while 3,856 (59.38%) voted on election day. Only 25 voters made the drive to Orlando to the SOE office to vote early, but with early voting at the VFW/Apopka Comunity Center in 2022, that figure is expected to increase significantly. In total, 6,492 voters participated in the 2018 election, which was a 20.7% turnout rate.
