Scan & Go allows members to Skip the Line and Save Time

This week the Apopka Sam's is introducing a new service; Scan & Go shopping. The service allows shoppers to skip the checkout lines.

Shoppers must first download the Scan & Go app. They then use the app to scan the UPC codes as they load items into their cart. When the members are done shopping and ready to check out, they can pay directly on their phone from anywhere in the club and bypass the checkout line.

James Turberg, Membership Lead for the Apopka Sam's Club, was the first to use the new service at the Apopka store.

"We have it live today and plan a full roll out on the 23rd of September," said Turberg. "I was the first to use it to buy a bottle of water and it worked - hooray!"

Turberg noted some key points about the new services:

  • Scan & Go allows shoppers to avoid checkout lines
  • There is a limit of $750 per shopping cart
  • Some items are not eligible for the service. These include age-restricted items such as liquor, video games and tobacco. Purchases of Jewelry are also not eligible.
  • The service is ideal for members on the go that need only a few items

The app also provides a running total of items in the shoppers cart.

As the shopper exits the store a Sam's Club associate will cross-reference the shoppers e-receipt with items in the cart.
